Description: This discussion/study group meets monthly to discuss assigned articles, book chapters, and movies that depict experiences of diversity and intersectionality. The discussion/study group format allows analysts to bring in their own case material that relates to the readings and receive peer feedback. The interactive format challenges analysts’ perspectives in a supportive environment.
Learning Objectives:
1.Increase knowledge of social psychoanalysis, culture, and normative unconscious processes.
2. Improve cultural diversity competence.
3. Increase technical knowledge of socio-cultural interventions to improve performance.
4. Better understand the deleterious mental health consequences of microaggressions and the experience of being othered.
